I am using it for Kitesurfing. For me the strap is too tight and a few millimeter more would do the trick. Secondly, I am using subclass with a build-in strap which doesn’t fit well with the hat. I have the cap of Kaiola which works with the sunglasses. But for this hat the chin strap would need to be longer.

fits very well, also when it is windy or you are on a boat it won't fly away without using the chin-strap. Very good sun protection, I love it!

I don't surf but I use the hat in the pool and water sports at the beach. Bought it to prevent skin cancer on my head. It looks good on me and is functional. Looking forward to using it in the Turks and Caicos on vacation.

This hat fits perfectly and prevents my face from getting sun exposure while surfing. It stays on really well too and I haven't noticed it obstructing my view at all. Highly recommend if you want to prevent facial sunburn while doing water activities!

This has got to be pretty close to the perfect surf hat. Great coverage; stiff front of the brim that doesn't flap even in high wind; more flexible back of the brim that doesn't push off your head when duck diving/getting worked; incredibly efficient, innocuous, and secure chin strap, and if you want, the brim flips up so much you don't see any of it if you want it out of the way for paddling or paddling in. I was wearing it 2 weeks ago in massive surf - 22.5ft @ 20 seconds - and it stayed on through countless beatings.

When you surf with it, you don't even feel you are wearing a hat, it's so comfortable, and it covers perfectly the eye from the sun... I went for a heavy surf, and after 2 millions duck dive the hat was still perfectly there unbelievable! I was talking with a friend in the line up who wanted to try it and I told her , thats the best choice I made to buy this hat! Highly recommended !!!!!

Best surf / beach hat that I have had. Size was perfect with the adjustable strap unlike other brands. The brim is wide and can flip up when needed. Chin straps are well designed keeping your hat in place in all conditions and not a focal point. It’s hard to buy something online that can be more expensive than other brands that you can not try on. I have surfed with this about 15 times and the comfort and sun protection is fantastic. Looks good on the beach too. You get what you pay for. 10 out of 10.

Almost didn’t buy this hat because of the price tag and the insane shipping cost, but it was so worth it. Super comfortable, it stays put, does not impede my vision, and my face is happy and protected. If you’re considering it, just do it - your face and eyeballs will thank you.

Hat fits great, brim is nice and stuff, with better coverage than other surf hats I've tried. A neck flap would be a nice addition, that I've seen on other surf hats. Stays on my head pretty well in smaller waves. Good peripheral vision.

Having tested several hats from reknown brands like RVCA I can safely this is by far the best surf hat on the market. It is clearly designed by and for surfers and not by a surf marketing brand. Duckdiving goes easy, it stays on perfectly without providing to much resistance while diving under. It provides the required sun cover and I love the feature of flipping the rim up to provide max vision when paddling for a wave. 100% can recommend. I have a small head (56cm) and the S hat fits perfectly.

I haven’t worn a hat in the water before so I wasn’t sure what to expect but after I got used to the “feeling” of tunnel vision and realized I could still see everything I settled in. The hat DID NOT come off. It didn’t choke me. It was easy to remove whenever I wanted to (I practiced per the instructions). I had more sun coverage than I’ve had before (which I need as someone with a history of melanoma). The hat did flip up a lot when I was popping up which really only made me look like a surfing pilgrim… and could be more as a result of my body anatomy than the hat’s general function. Overall I’m VERY happy with it and the decision I made to buy the bucket hat instead of the baseball cap for increased coverage. You will not regret it!

This hat is amazing -so far it’s duck dive and wipe out proof (after a month of heavy use). I am just between a small and medium and ordered a medium so I can wear it over my wetsuit hood on sunny winter days. I do wish the brim was a bit wider - my chin is often exposed to the sun, which isn’t an issue with wide brimmed hats I wear on land. Still, it provides better side coverage than a ball cap would (and idk how a wider brim would do underwater). I saw one review mentioning the clip takes some getting used to, but I had no issues

Very well executed design. It does a great job balancing sun protection with vision. I sometimes flip the brim before paddling in, but it's not necessary. I've used it in up to head high surf and no issues with it coming off. I don't love the sensation of this semi-floppy thing being strapped to my head while being flogged by white water, but there's no getting around that. Overall, very happy I splurged for this premium option. And I expect to wear this hat for a lot more than just surfing

I love the hat. Great material. It keeps my hair away from my face and of course provides UV protection. It stays on even on the bigger days provided the wipe-outs are not that gnarly. I recommend it.

Best surf hat ever. Ditch both the sunscreen and sunglasses. I struggle in the lineup when it’s too bright and surf-specific sunglasses just don’t work for me. This is a total solution, you will not be disappointed!

Just got my black bucket hat and love it! I have been out in big waves and it performs well and stays on! I have a look-alike bucket surf hat that just does not perform like my Kaiola. I find my Kaiola hat great for other activities such as mowing the lawn, riding a bike, and just hanging with the grandkids at the beach. Thanks for making a great hat!
